Where to buy vending machines

A refurbished snack machine with a warranty starts at $1,295 from A&M Equipment Sales and $1,495 from Vending World. A new one starts at $2,800 for Piranha’s own brand; among Wittern machines, $3,728 at Sam’s Club and $4,439 direct from Selectivend. Private sellers on Craigslist in San Francisco and San Diego were asking $500 to $4,500 for full-size machines, with no warranty.

Below is every seller we could verify, grouped by type. Prices are what each seller’s own site showed on October 3, 2026. Craigslist asking prices are from October 2. Most do not include freight. Where a company does not publish a price, it says “not published.”

What each channel charges

Sellers’ own buying guides quote higher used prices than the price lists do. Vending.com’s guide puts a used snack machine at $2,750 to $4,850 (Vending.com¹³); refurbishers’ listings start at about half the low end of that.

Dealers quote freight separately, and Vending World says most shipping damage happens on liftgate deliveries. Buying where you can pick up avoids both.

We did not find a machine dealer or refurbisher in San Diego County. The two Rancho Cucamonga refurbishers are about 100 miles north.

Manufacturers and how they sell

Crane’s vending machines are now sold under the Crane Convenience name. Older guides call it Crane Merchandising Systems.

Used machines from private sellers

Asking prices on October 2, 2026. These are what sellers wanted, not what machines sold for.

A used BevMax 5800-4 at $3,000 on Craigslist compares with $4,695 to $4,895 refurbished at Vending World⁶⁴ with a 90-day parts warranty. That gap is the price of the warranty and the refurbishment.

Many eBay listings are pickup only or add $160 to $990 in freight. Before paying a private seller, see the machine powered on, vending, and cooling, and check that the control board supports a card reader (MDB).

Card readers

A traditional machine needs a reader added. Hardware is the small part of the cost; the monthly fee and the processing rate are what you pay for as long as the machine runs.

We run Nayax and WeVend readers. Get the processing rate in writing before you buy: Nayax’s own shop and its resellers do not show the same monthly fee. Card readers compared works through what each costs per month.

Mini claws on Amazon⁹⁰ were listed from $1,098 to $1,499.99 on October 3, 2026.

Importing from the factory

Weimi, a Chinese manufacturer, lists smart fridges⁹¹ from $2,179 on factory orders. That is before freight, duty, and a customs broker. Importing from China has the full cost stack.

• Duty. The base US tariff on vending machines (heading 8476) is zero. Additional duties on Chinese goods apply on top and have changed several times since 2025. One tariff tracker⁹² showed 37.5% from July 1, 2026; we could not confirm that against a government source. Ask a customs broker for the rate on the day you order.
• Refrigerant. Since January 1, 2025 the EPA bars importing vending machines that use refrigerants with a global warming potential above 150.
• Certification. The US standards are UL 751⁹³ and UL 541⁹⁴ for safety and NSF/ANSI 25⁹⁵ for sanitation. California’s food code⁹⁶ requires food vending machines to be built to NSF or NAMA standards or the equivalent. Check for the marks on the specific model, not the brand.

Turnkey packages

Some companies sell a bundle: machines, training, and a promise to find locations. HealthyYOU Vending (Clearfield, UT) does not publish a price. Naturals2Go (Savannah, GA) lists a total investment of $52,000 to $260,000 on BizBuySell.

Federal law treats these as business opportunities. Under the FTC’s Business Opportunity Rule the seller must give you a one-page disclosure at least seven days before you sign or pay. It has to list lawsuits against the seller, the refund policy, and references, and any earnings claim needs a separate written statement. In California, sellers of such plans must also file with the Attorney General⁹⁷ before advertising.

The record on packages with promised locations:

• In 2015 federal prosecutors in New York charged seven people over the sale of vending packages on false promises of high-profit locations. The scheme took nearly $9 million from at least 1,300 buyers.
• In 2014 California’s financial regulator issued a stop order and a desist-and-refrain order against Fresh Healthy Vending, a San Diego franchisor.
• In 2022 a Massachusetts route seller pleaded guilty to defrauding three buyers of about $187,500, using fabricated records of past profits, including spreadsheets.
